Vincent and Grace Munyosi
Vincent and Grace minister in a predominantly Muslim community. Instead of trying to gather together converts, they focused on community transformation. They restored the water supply, introduced better farming methods, sponsored livestock for widows and orphans, rebuilt the primary school, and facilitated community wide health education. Through this transformational work many people’s lives are transformed holistically.
Vincent and Grace so clearly embody the ideals of St Francis "Preach the gospel and if you must, use words." They are innovative, humble and passionate. They have chosen to live among the poorest of the poor and to serve them with all they have. They truly are agents of transformation.
The two core issues that Vincent and Grace are tackling are:
1. How to establish a vibrant local church in strongly antichristian community; and
2. How to mobilse that local church to impact their community with the Kingdom.
In essence they are developing a working model for Integral Mission.
The village in which Vincent and Grace minister is predominantly Muslim and so instead of trying to gather together converts, they focused on community transformation. They restored the water supply, introduced better farming methods, sponsored livestock for widows and orphans, rebuilt the primary school, facilitated community wide health education, ... the list goes on and on. The Kingdom of God was among them.
And as the kingdom came close to people, so they came close to God. Every week people are coming to salvation, not because of persuasive preaching but because the Kingdom has come near to them. The church is now over 150 strong, almost all are converts from Islam, and everyone is involved in mission. Many had been rejected by their families as a result and yet Vincent and Grace remain respected by the whole community.
Vincent and Grace are modeling a faith community where the kingdom is so tangible that people are approaching them on the high street and begging them to help them find salvation. Vincent and Grace are becoming a model not only in rural Uganda but around the world of the power of Integral Mission. That is why they have been selected as Inspired Individuals.
